Some techniques for extracting hemp oil use high heat and/or toxic solvents which are dangerous, unsustainable, and don’t extract the full complement of nutrients from the plant. Even worse, they cannot always be fully separated from the end product which is therefore not clean or pure.
The extraction of hemp concentrate using CO2 (carbon dioxide) is a particularly safe and efficient method in which the risk of remaining solvent residues is excluded. CO2 extraction systems are considerably more expensive compared to butane or hexane systems, but the benefits are worth it. CO2 extraction is non-toxic, used in food products without any restrictions, leaves no dangerous residues, is free of impurities, is antibacterial, and leaves us with a clean and pure end product.
